I am Anjali Munjal – a Kathak dancer by soul and the founder of Shad Dhanu by heart. My journey with sarees began not in a showroom, but on stage. As I traveled across India – from the temple towns of the South to the ghats of Banaras, from Gujarat’s vibrant handloom markets to Bengal’s serene workshops – I discovered the true artistry of weaves. Kalamkari, Ajrakh, Chikankari, Banarasi, Kanjeevaram – each fabric told a story, just like every movement in Kathak. The richness of this artistry, the diversity of sarees, and the effortless grace they bring are what I wish to share with the world through Shad Dhanu.
Dance of Tradition
One warm afternoon, while judging a dance competition outdoors, I wore a stunning silk
saree. It looked beautiful, but I realized how uncomfortable I was – sweating under the
heavy, synthetic-feeling fabric. That was a turning point. I started looking for skin-friendlyoptions that still carried the same grace. But while buying sarees from big brands, I was often disappointed. The colours were chemically treated, the zari borders itched my skin, and there was a strong smell of dyes.
That’s when I knew – we needed something better. Something honest, pure, and rooted.
The Art of Unfolding
Shad Dhanu was born from this need – to offer sarees that feel like second skin, look
graceful, and carry the richness of Indian craft without compromising comfort or ethics.
Every saree here is a story woven with care – of weavers, of culture, of a dancer who found her rhythm in the folds of tradition.
Welcome to Shad Dhanu – where every drape is a celebration of who you are.
